The Eye Bar Optics
During the eye exam, patients will have preliminary screening testing done before the doctor measures glasses prescription (refraction). Contact lens fitting is also available and includes sphere contact lenses, as well as toric (with astigmatism), multifocal (with reading prescription), monovision (another option to presbyopia management contact lenses), myopia control lenses for children (MiSight 1 day), and gas permeable lenses. In some cases, trials may need to be ordered if not available in stock. What sets our office apart from comprehensive eye exams at many other offices is the level of involvement from the doctor with preliminary testing and a more individualized approach during the exam. The total time with the doctor for comprehensive eye exams, that includes preliminary testing time, can last 30-40 minutes, which is not seen as much in the new era of revolving door healthcare. Office visit appointment for a specific eye condition does not often require as lengthy a time frame as a comprehensive eye exam. We can manage many ocular urgent conditions and have more specific equipment than some emergency rooms or urgent care offices. For red eye conditions, stye, removal of a piece of metal, eye infection from a contact lens wear or other causes, consider calling our office to be treated - optometrists have been very well trained to manage eye emergency conditions.
Dr. Karina Fulton, is an optometrist with over a decade of clinical eye care experience. Her education includes a four year undergraduate degree from Lake Forest College, then attending a four year graduate school program for Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry and an additional year long training in Ocular Disease treatment at a Veterans Affairs Hospital. Dr. Fulton's goal at The Eye Bar Optics is to help patients create a connection between their medical and eye health. During the eye exam, Dr. Fulton asks questions about the status of medical health in order to give more customized eye care advice, since so many conditions (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, inflammation in the body) impact the eye health. Dr. Karina Fulton has strong experience with challenging contact lens fitting, helping find the most accurate prescription based on occupation vision demands, dilated eye exams to thoroughly examine retina, dry eye management, and vision therapy. Dr. Fulton speaks Russian and Spanish, so you can specify preference for speaking your native language if that is most comfortable during the eye exam.

was born and raised in Storm Lake, IA, where he attended Buena Vista University graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in biological sciences. Dr. Mike earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree as Valedictory graduate of the Illinois College of
Optometry. During his time there, Mike was the recipient of a record number of awards recognizing his academic and clinical excellence and his commitment to community service. Dr. Mike prides himself on providing quality and efficient eye care.
